Yuletide: Anambra Assembly Deputy Speaker Okoye Gives Succour To Constituents

The Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Okoye, has again demonstrated his commitment to the welfare of his constituents and the general public.

This followed his distribution of 350 bags of rice to his constituents and over four million naira to Ward Executive Members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Awka South Local Government Area.

The beneficiaries also included party coordinators from Awka North as well as retired and elderly priests of the Catholic Diocese of Awka.

The distribution exercise formed part of activities to mark the Christmas season.

The initiative underscores the Deputy Speaker’s sustained effort to appreciate party faithful, strengthen grassroots structures and extend support to vulnerable groups within the society.

The intervention was widely seen as a reflection of his people-oriented leadership style and commitment to inclusive governance.

The gesture was also aimed at recognizing the loyalty, resilience and dedication of APGA ward executives who continue to serve as the backbone of the party at the grassroots.

Beyond party considerations, the outreach highlighted the importance attached to unity, cooperation and shared responsibility in driving political stability and development across Awka North and Awka South constituencies.

Some beneficiaries include: Mr. Goodluck Ekenekwefa from Urum in Awka North and Comrade Steven Ilo from Isiagu in Awka South Local Government Area.

They acknowledged the Deputy Speaker’s accessibility and consistent engagement with the people and noted that his interventions before, during and after elections have continued to translate into tangible support for communities, reinforcing confidence in his leadership and commitment to lasting development.

In the same vein, the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor, during a pontifical high mass ahead of the exercise, appreciated the gesture and reaffirmed the church’s support for leaders whose actions are geared towards uplifting the living standards of the people.

He assured continued prayers for public office holders who demonstrate sincerity of purpose and compassion in governance.

The outreach further reinforced Rt. Hon. Okoye’s resolve to deepen people-centered representation, promote social welfare and contribute meaningfully to the overall development of Anambra State, with renewed expectations of greater impact in the coming year.
