Wife of Anambra Gov, Dr. Mrs Obiano Visits Aguata, Anaocha As L.G.A Tour Enters Third Day

Over one thousand three hundred indigent persons have been presented with gifts and cash by the Wife of Governor of Anambra State, and founder of the NGO; Caring Family Enhancement Initiative, CAFE, Dr Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano, during her 2019 local government tour in Aguata and Anaocha Council.

The one thousand three hundred and twenty indigent persons, mostly widows, the aged, disabled and children who got cash, bags of rice and educational materials, were drawn from twenty-four communities that make up the two local governments.

Aguata and Anaocha are the fourth and fifth local governments visited so far by Dr Mrs Obiano in the schedule of her 2019 tour to the twenty-one council areas of Anambra State.
In her address, Dr Mrs Obiano said the tour was to complement and sustain what Governor Willie Obiano has achieved in Anambra State for the past five years, and to set a pace for equitable reach of ndi Anambra at the grassroots.

She noted that the present atmosphere of peace in Anambra State demanded everyone’s effort to be sustained, and urged ndi Anambra to support government policies that direct towards progress and development.

She urged farmers whose crops were destroyed by floods to form cooperative societies and apply for loans with the Anambra Small Business Agency, ASBA, for easier access to funds.

The member representing Aguata One Constituency at the Anambra State House of Assembly, Honorable Nnamdi Umeh, his Aguata Two counterpart, Dr Okechukwu Okoye, and the member representing Anaocha Constituency Two at the Anambra State House of Assembly, Chief Ejike Okechukwu spoke of the nobility and selflessness behind Dr Mrs Obiano’s pattern of giving, where the least of the less-privileged is always touched.

The Anambra State Commissioner for Public Utilities, Engeneer Emeka Ezenwanne, who pledged to transfer his two months salary to the CAFE account for the upkeep of the poor, said the Governor’s wife, having engaged in charity for many years, in and out of elections, meant she was destined to help mankind, and challenged every Anambra woman to emulate her models of womanhood.

In their separate remarks, the Transition Committee Chairman of Aguata Council Area, Mr Eche Ezeibe and his Anaocha counterpart, Honourable Patrick Onyedum, urged the Governor’s wife to continue with her humanitarian tempo, considering the huge dividends it has yielded for over five years.

An APGA chieftain, Chief Dan Ogbuefi and a former Transition Committee Chairman of Anaocha Council Area, Chief Ikeobi Ejiofor, said it has become a way of life for Mrs Obiano to give to the poor whereever she finds them.
