Members of Umuoji Progressives Movement have urged the Anambra State Government to stop the Executive of Umuoji Improvement Union from going further to conduct any election in Umuoji until they amend the constitution of the community that will empower citizens of Umuoji who are eighteen years and above to vote during election of President General of the town.
The people who made the appeal through the Convener of Umuoji Progressives Movement, Chief Peter Okafor, when they staged a peaceful demonstration at Light House Awka, said they want the current Executive of Umuoji Improvement Union to remove article sixteen and thirty-four of their constitution, which does not allow all-inclusive election, but allows their President General to select two delegates from each village in Umuoji to vote during the town union’s election.

Addressing the people, the Anambra State Chief of Protocol and Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Chief Chinedu Nwoye, assured them that the Governor will look into their complaint.upsot
