People of Umunya community in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State have organized a mega reception for their Igweship candidate, Dr. Innocent Nworah, to demonstrate solidarity with his ambition to serve the community.
Dr. Nworah, a Houston Texas, United States-based medical doctor, was received by his people at the Chinua Achebe International Cargo and Passenger Airport, Umueri, in Anambra East Local Government Area, and escorted to his country home at Ajakpana Village, Umunya, where he entertained and fraternized with them; and during the reception, Umunya sons and daughters, both young and old, were seen chanting melodious songs, shouting for joy, and hailing Dr. Nworah as their incoming king, describing the moment as a new dawn for the community.
Speaking to the ABS, Dr. Nworah said he accepted the call of his people to serve as their traditional ruler because of his long-standing desire to contribute to the development of the community from childhood, and assured that he will take Umunya to greater heights and improve the welfare of the people.
In separate interviews, some members of the community, including the Works Supervisor of Oyi Local Government Area, Chief Emeka Anigbogu, Mrs. Amarachukwu Nweke, and Mr. Levi Odiaka, described Dr. Nworah as a blessing to Umunya, noting that he had installed street lights and supported less privileged people through his charity organization, expressing joy over his acceptance to lead the community, and prayed for God’s guidance, good health, and long life for him.
