Mr Sunday Nweke has been elected unopposed as President General of Isiagu Town Union in Awka South Council Area after polling 266 valid votes in an election supervised by officials of the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs
Other officers elected unopposed include Mr Onyebuchi Nwafor as Vice President General, Jerry Nwafor, Assistant Secretary General,Lucky Ezenwa as Treasurer Nelson Okafor Provost Two and Sunday Owah as Public Relations Officer.
In other contested positions, Mr Francis Nwude emerged Secretary General with 141 votes defeating Mr Chima Okolo who polled 115 votes and Mr Elijah Christian Okoli who got 14 votes, while Mr Crescent Chibuife won Financial Secretary with 145 votes over Mr Chinedu Okafor who scored 127 votes and Mr Ekene Odogwu was elected Provost One with 156 votes against Mr Chukwudi Abazu who polled 115 votes.
Speaking after the election, Mr Nweke thanked the community for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to drive positive change in Isiagu in line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s rural development agenda,while community stakeholders, including former President General Mr Udechukwu Nnebedum, Youth Chairman, Mr Collins Nweke and electoral committee secretary, Comrade Uzor Ekemezie expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the election and appreciated the state government for its support.
