The fight against corruption has been described as a collective responsibility.
This was the views of participants at a round table marking the
third African Anti Corruption Day celebration in Abuja.
Ekwi Ajide of our Abuja Bureau reports that the meeting organized by
the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, was an opportunity
for key players in the fight against corruption in Nigeria to brain
storm on the way forward.
Declaring the event open, the Secretary to the Government of the
Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha, re-assured that the Buhari
administration will not relent in its fight against corruption urging
African leaders to partner in the fight for a more robust, holistic
and faster eradication of the menace.
Earlier in a welcome address, the Acting Chairman of the Economic and
Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr Ibrahim Magu, maintained that
for poverty to be eradicated in Africa, the fight against corruption
must be total.
In their various speeches, the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian
National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Mallam Mele Kolo Kyari, and the
Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant-General Tukur Buratai represented by
the Director of training, Lieutenant General Lamedi Adeosun, called
for all hands to be on deck in the fight against corruption.
