The Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, says Governor Chukwuma Soludo has impacted all constituencies across the state through various development projects within his first term in office.
Rt. Hon. Udeze made the remark during plenary when the House passed a resolution commending the Governor for the award and commencement of the dualization of the Magazine G.R.A – 3-3 – Otuocha Expressway, described as a landmark infrastructure intervention in Onitsha North and Anambra State in general.
The motion, sponsored by the member representing Onitsha North Constituency One, highlighted that the Magazine G.R.A – 3-3 – Otuocha Expressway serves as a critical arterial road linking the commercial hub of Onitsha with the densely populated 3-3 axis and surrounding communities.
According to the lawmaker, the road has, over the years, suffered severe deterioration, traffic congestion, flooding, and safety challenges, which have negatively affected economic activities and increased travel time for residents, traders, and commuters who rely on the route daily.
He observed that repeated calls by residents, transport unions, business groups, and community leaders for the rehabilitation and expansion of the road underscored its strategic importance to urban mobility and economic growth in Onitsha North and the state at large.
The member representing Nnewi North, Honourable Augustine Ike, and the Deputy Majority Leader, Honourable Jude Akpua, expressed confidence that Governor Soludo’s decision to award and commence the dualization of the road demonstrates visionary leadership, responsiveness to the needs of the people, and commitment to modern infrastructure renewal across Anambra State.
Contributing to the motion, the member representing Anambra East Constituency, Barrister Obi Nweke, and the Majority Leader, Honourable Ikenna Ofodeme, commended Governor Soludo for initiating the project, noting that the dualization of the road would significantly ease traffic congestion, improve road safety, and enhance economic activities within the area and adjoining communities.
