Anambra State Commissioner for Works, Engineer. Ifeanyi Okeoma, says that the state government has achieved seventy percent completion of over eight hundred and fifty roads awarded under the Governor Chukwuma Soludo administration.
According to Commissioner Okeoma who disclosed this shortly after the bilateral discussions and 2026 budget defence of the Ministry before the Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation, a total allocation of three hundred and fifty two point five two billion naira has been approved for the ministry under capital expenditure, while thirty-seven billion, eight hundred and twenty-three million, five hundred and seventy nine thousand, ninety four kobo was earmarked for recurrent expenditure.
Engineer. Okeoma noted that the 2026 fiscal year will place greater emphasis on the Anambra Mixed Industrial City, five-star hotels, and other strategic infrastructural projects aimed at boosting economic growth, while affirming that the ministry is on all nozzles to ensure rapid infrastructural development across the state, adding that the Lighthouse and Fun City projects have already been completed and have attracted over two hundred thousand visitors.
On concerns about flooding associated with massive road constructions, Engineer Okeoma said that the ministry is adopting a combination of traditional and scientific approaches to provide a lasting solution, while explaining that once the state’s master plan is fully finalized, all related challenges will be adequately addressed.
