Following the directive of Anambra State government that all categories of schools in Anambra state to immediately resume full academic activities on Mondays, ABS newscrew visited some schools in parts of the state to monitor the level of compliance.
Some of the schools visited were Community Secondary School, Okpuno, Kenneth Dike Memorial Secondary School, Awka, Ikwodiaku Primary School, Awka, Sir Herbert Nkwocha Primary school Enugwu ukwu, Central School, Umunnachi, Aguoji Primary School, Ifitedunu, Immaculate Heart of Mary Nursery and Primary School, Abagana among others, and it was observed that some of the schools that complied with the directive students and pupils were seen writing tests as mandated by the Ministry of Education, tests previously written every Friday are now moved to Mondays to encourage schools to be opening on Mondays.

Speaking to the ABS during the monitoring exercise, Chairman Post Primary Schools Service Commission, PPSSC, Professor Nkechi Ikediugwu expressed delight with the turn out of students and teachers saying that the ongoing tests will be part of their continuous assessment for examination and warned that any school where Principals and teachers were not found on seat will be sanctioned.

Her ASUBEB counterpart, Dr Vera Nwadinobi in observation affirmed that most of the teachers were on ground except those who received official approval to be absent from school and she noted that she found out from the teachers that the reason why pupils were absent in some of the schools visited was because the parents prevented their children from going to school and asked the parents to stop be afraid as Governor Chukwuma Soludo has assured Ndi Anambra of their safety.
