Determined to tackle all forms of insecurity head-on, Ihiala Local Government Area has formally launched it’s own community-driven security outfit, Agunechemba.
Speaking during the event held at Ihiala Local Government Headquarters, the Mayor of the Local government Area, Engineer Charles Orjiako, appreciated the Anambra State Government for establishing Agunechemba security outfit which he noted has helped the council area greatly and called for synergy and sincerity of purpose from all to ensure that security is improved in the area.

On his part, the Chairman of Ihiala Agunechemba Management and Finance Committee, Chief Chukwudi Enwerum, who outlined modalities for their operations, explained that the Homeland Security Law, 2025 has repealed the 2014 Anambra State vigilante law, and empowered Agunechemba security outfit, as a community based security.


Others who spoke at the event, including the President General of Ihiala Town Union, Mr Livinus Omatu, a community stakeholder, Mr Vin Ezeaka, and a community leader, Mr Tochukwu Okeyika, affirmed that the launch of Ihiala Agunechemba security outfit will make a difference in the security situation of the area.
