Oyi Council Chairman Nweke Lauds Soludo On Comprehensive Development, Recounts Achievements

The Oyi Local Government Area Headquarters, Nteje, on Wednesday bubbled with activities marking Nigeria’s 65th independence anniversary as school children from all the five communities that make up the council area trooped out in their numbers to participate  in the event.

The event which attracted dignitaries including traditional rulers and other stakeholders in the council area, witnessed march past, cultural dances, calisthenics, football competition between Awkuzu and Nteje communities and more.

In his address shortly before the march past, the Mayor of Oyi Local Government Area, Barrister Emma Nweke recalled that in 1960, Nigeria made a clean break from colonial masters with joy as diversity was  its strength, calling on everyone to be steadfast because Nigeria and indeed Anambra is making steady progress with Governor Chukwuma Soludo in the same spirit of patriotism spreading development strategies across the state.  

Barrister Nweke highlighted various development projects sited under his administration in the council area, to include engaging security agencies who carry out twenty four hours patrol of all the communities in the area, carrying out capacity and capital development programmes for the youths, institution of award of excellence of one million and five hundred thousand naira for graduates from the LGA, controlling flood menace, construction of the one kilometre Ifite Umueri Transformer Olamme /St Michael Catholic Church Road Awkuzu , maintenance of roads, distribution of over ten thousand plantain suckers to farmers, among many others.
