The Traditional Ruler of Omor community in Ayamelum Local Government Area, Igwe Chris has called on the Nigerian Government to support farmers in the country for food sufficiency.
Correspondent Gab Alokwe reports that Igwe Chidume made the call during a press conference held in his palace in Omor where he announced the community’s 2025 new yam festival scheduled for this week’s Saturday, 23rd August in his palace, and assured that there will be adequate security during and after the celebration.
The Traditional Ruler disclosed that the community is erecting a twenty thousand capacity auditorium which would be launched on his 10th anniversary on the throne, as part of efforts to expand their cultural activities and make them a tourism attraction.
On his part, a member of the Omor Royal Family, Chief Peter Emeka who thanked God that flood did not damage their farms this year, maintained that this year’s new yam festival will be great, calling on people from all over the country and beyond to come and witness this year’s annual royal cultural festival.
