Ofala Onitsha Festival 2025 has ended with Azu Ofala where every age grades in Onitsha in their colorful uniforms came to pay homage to Igwe Alfred Achebe while the younger age grades displayed energetic dance steps, sponsored by the first indigenous Telecommunication company Limited, Globacom.
Speaking to the ABS, the Globacom official Representative Mr Tochukwu Okechukwu noted that the partnership between Ofala Onitsha Festival and Globacom telecommunication was based on the company’s deep commitment towards culture and the uniquness of Onitsha culture as the company believes in cultural values of Nigerians noting that in a bid to spice up the festival, Globacom floated a promo that has been on for four weeks, in order to reward their customers and broaden their reach.
The state Commissioner for Youth Development who is also an indigene of Onitsha Mr Patrick Agha-Mba who spoke on the theme of the festival “unity and perseverance” noted that the theme is apt as there is need for unity among communities in the state as according to him, Governor Soludo has been constructing roads connecting various communities calling for his second term bid for continuity.
Others who spoke to the ABS include the Ojiedeze of Onitsha, Chief Jude Onitsha, a guest at the event Chief Ifeanyi Ogbuagu and a one time chairman Onitsha South council area Mr Alexander Egbuna, expressed satisfaction for being part of the event, applauding Globacom limited for their consistency and prayed God to grant Igwe Achebe long life and progress for Onitsha people.
