People of Anambra State have joined the rest of the country in mourning the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away in London last Sunday.
Correspondent, Emmanuel Okonkwo reports that while reacting to the development, the Traditional Ruler of Umuawulu community in Awka South Local Government Area, Igwe Joel Egwuonwu, expressed surprise that the former President died at a time he was no longer burdened with the pressures of leadership, and prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul.
While reflecting on Buhari’s time in office, Igwe Egwuonwu noted that his administration did not really favour Nigerians, urging public office holders to draw a lesson from his passing; that life is transient, and to use their positions to uplift the people rather than oppress or impoverish them.
Also speaking, some Awka residents; including Mr. Tochukwu Nnajide and Mr. Chukwuemeka Nwaele, while condoling with the Buhari family, emphasized the inevitability of death, even as they encouraged Nigerians to live consciously and treat others with kindness.
