Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation has commenced the 2026 budget defence and bilateral discussions with ministries, departments, agencies, and other government parastatals.
Speaking during the opening session, the Chairman of the Committee, Sir Ejike Okechukwu, said the exercise is aimed at ensuring transparency, credibility, and alignment of all sectoral proposals with the priorities of the 2026 budget.

The process began with the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Ministry of Finance, and the State Bureau of Statistics, among others, as they presented their submissions and responded to questions from lawmakers.
The committee is expected to continue the defence sessions daily as part of efforts to scrutinize revenue projections, expenditure plans, and performance indicators for the next fiscal year.
