It was a celebration of a life well spent as the remains of late Dr. Maria (Oby May) Obiechina were laid to rest in her husband’s compound at Nkpor, Idemili North Local Government Area.
Delivering a sermon during the funeral Mass held for the late Obiechina at Saint Augustine of Hippo Catholic Church, Nkpor, Reverend Father Remigus Nwankwo gave thanks to God for Christ’s victory over death and urged Christians not to see death as the end of life, but as a transition to eternal glory.

In an interview, the first daughter of the deceased, Dr. Nonyelum Oke, described her mother, who passed away at the age of eighty-one, as a kind and generous woman, an educator who touched countless lives and helped shape the destinies of many women.

Also speaking one of the Southeast Coordinators of the organisation, Mrs. Ebele Obiakonze, who represented the organisation’s Founder and President, Dr. Mrs. Anthonia Uche Umeh, and the executive board, noted that the late Dr. Obiechina was a bona fide member of ASA Women USA and an active Cancer Patron whose generosity and compassion left lasting imprints on the organisation.
