The growing number of drug-dependent individuals undergoing rehabilitation at Drug Rehabilitation Center in Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area has brought to the fore the urgent need for strong government presence, support, and intervention in addressing substance abuse and mental health challenges in the state.
It was against this backdrop that the Member representing Anaocha Constituency One in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Honourable Nkechi Ogbuefi paid a visit to the center as part of activities marking the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, observed globally in June.

Honourable Ogbuefi said her visit was both a show of solidarity and a clarion call for action, stressing that the fight against drug abuse must include not just rehabilitation but also prevention and reintegration into society.
Receiving the lawmaker, the Manager of the facility, Mr. Chukwukaodinaka Akataka thanked the lawmaker for the visit and called for government intervention, lamenting that the center operates with limited funds, while urging youths to free from drugs.
