Anambra Governor’s wife, Dr. Nonye Soludo, has explained that the government needs the support and will of stakeholders to tackle pertinent issues like unemployment and building a stronger human capital population.
The Governor’s wife stated this at Idemili South Local Government Headquarters, Ojoto, while flagging off an empowerment programme for over seven hundred people from the area who had undergone training in different skills.

The empowerment programme, which was organized by the Chairman of the local government area, Mrs Amaka Obi, also had two hundred and fifty petty traders selected across the seven communities of the LGA who were given financial support to help their businesses.
Speaking at the programme, Mrs Soludo noted that while the government has a great responsibility to its citizens, its functions could be limited by so many factors, which is where stakeholders must come in and support certain crucial responsibilities.

She applauded the Idemili South Mayor for thinking towards the direction of human capital development, explaining that the number (700) will have multiplier effects on the income of many homes and the economic growth of Anambra State.
The Governor’s wife also stated that her husband’s administration is one that prioritizes human capital empowerment, with thousands of youths already trained and empowered under the famous “One Youth Two Skills” programme, with her NGO now set to train and empower ladies in different marketable skills.

Earlier in her address, the Chairman of Idemili South Local Government Area, Mrs Obi, said that the programme was a bold step in a journey towards economic empowerment, self-reliance and social inclusion, explaining that the empowerment was to celebrate resilience, hard work and the power of opportunity.
Mrs Obi noted that earned trainee has been provided with the necessary equipment to start off and sustain their businesses; with a target to fight poverty and dependency, as well as encourage productivity.
Anambra State Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Patrick Aghamba, stated that the state government will support the trainees with investment education, as well as other incentives, to help them start off comfortably.

Other stakeholders from the local government area, including the member representing Idemili South in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Honourable Ebuka Igwe, the Commissioner for Tourism and Entertainment, Comrade Don Onyenji, the Executive Chairman of Anambra State Post Primary Schools Service Commission (PPSSC), Professor Nkechi Ikediugwu and her Anambra State Universal Basic Education Baord (ASUBEB) counterpart, Dr. Vera Nwadinobi, among others, applauded Mrs Obi for her vision for impact and creating a better platform for humanity’s future.

The seven hundred people had undergone trainings in sewing, hair making, confectionery and the traditional “Gele” making.
