- Following the appeal by Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State to those who planned to congratulate him on his 64th birthday on Thursday, August 8, in paid media announcements to send the money to any charity of their choice, a good number of Nigerians from all walks of life have been asking for the bank details of the Caring Family Enhancement Initiative (CAFE) so as to support the work of the non-government organization (NGO) led by the Wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Chief (Mrs) Ebelechukwu Obiano.
- CAFE has been providing houses for widows as well as artificial limbs for needy ones and paying for children with cleft clips and cleft palates who are treated at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital in Awka and Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital in Nnewi.
- But funds from members of the public marking Governor Obiano’s 64th birthday will be channeled towards the treatment and welfare of mentally challenged persons who suffer all manner of discrimination in our society even after they have been treated successfully. Individuals and organizations in solidarity with Governor Obiano on his birthday are advised to send their donations to the Caring Family Enhancement Initiative with Fidelity Bank account number 4010944999.
- Once again, Governor Obiano and the entire Anambra State Government thank, from the depths of our hearts, Ndi Anambra and, indeed, all Nigerians for the remarkable show of solidarity they have demonstrated since the announcement that Chief Obiano will not celebrate his 64th birthday but rather use the opportunity to engage in personal reflection on his covenant with the people, especially the downtrodden.
