Girls’ Secondary School Abagana Old Girls Association Holds 2025 Homecoming 

Developing the competence required for young people to successfully navigate the challenges of a globalized world took centre stage as the Girls’ Secondary School Abagana Old Girls Association held its 2025 Homecoming at the school premises.

Speaking at the event, which was attended by several old girls of the school including former Deputy Senior Prefect of the school and ex-Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Professor Patience Osadebe, emphasized that global competence requires the right knowledge, strong interpersonal skills, effective problem-solving ability, and the right attitude, noting that studies have shown that individuals who set goals early in life are more likely to succeed because of their focus and sense of direction.

Earlier, the host and National President of Girls’ Secondary School Abagana Old Girls Association, Professor Ifeoma Enweani-Nwokelo, said that the homecoming provided an opportunity for old girls to mentor, guide, and inspire the younger generations, especially in the face of challenges posed by increased internet access and the realities of today’s global village. 

In their remarks, the Chairman of the occasion, Chief  Mike Nwokelo and  the school’s oldest girl, Professor Ukamaka Ogbazi, urged young people to set clear goals early in life, stressing that education remains a reliable pathway out of poverty regardless of economic background.
