Anambra State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare, in partnership with Anambra Women Union Incorporated, Chicago/USA, has flagged off a three-day free medical healthcare program for Anambra women, featuring breast cancer awareness workshop, breast self-examination training, registration of vulnerable women for mammogram tests, Anambra State Health Insurance Agency/Scheme, ASHIA, enrollment.

Correspondent, Joseph Egbeocha reports that the event flagged off at Professor Dora Akunyili Women Development Center Awka will also take place at Onitsha North Local Government Headquarters and Aguata Local Government Headquarters, with six hundred women benefitting in all.

In her opening remark, Mrs Blessing Nweke, with the Women Affairs Ministry, thanked the diaspora group, Anambra Women Union Incorporated, Chicago/USA, for remembering women at home with their resources, while a resource person at the event, Pastor Hephzibah Agwaniru, urged the beneficiaries to be aware, but never be afraid of their health conditions.

The beneficiaries, including the Majority Leader of Njikoka Legislative Council, Honourable Adaobi Nweke, and Mrs Nonye Ikedilo, said the event was enriching with useful knowledge on cancer issues handled by Professor Chukwudi Okani, and promised to impact others with the knowledge.
