Chief Fredrick Chinwuba has emerged the new President General of Awka Development Union Nigeria (ADUN), after a keenly contested election which also saw the emergence of Chief Chris Obuekwe as the Deputy President General and Mr Augustine Hillary as the Publicity secretary.
Other positions were unopposed during the election which took place in Awka under the supervision of the representatives of the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs.
Speaking during the event the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Barrister Ifeanyichukwu Obiakor, expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of both the contestants and delegates during the election which was conducted by open secret ballot system; while the leader of the team from the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and community affairs, Mr Henry Nwasike described the election as peaceful and orderly and urged the new leadership of Awka Development Union ADUN to work towards bringing lasting peace in Awka.
In an acceptance speech after being sworn in, the new President General of Awka Development Union, Chief Chinwuba thanked the Awka Community for the confidence reposed in him and assured to carry everybody along.
