The European Union and the United Nations Children’s Fund have expressed their commitment to support the return of displaced persons from Yelwata and other affected communities to their homes.
This commitment followed a meeting held between representatives of the two organisations and leaders of the Yelwata community, as well as other communities affected by recent armed herders’ attacks.
Speaking with journalists after the meeting held at the emergency camp located at the International Market in Makurdi, European Union Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Gautier Mignot stated that the organisation was in the state to extend support to both the state government and communities affected by violence.
