Enugwu Nanka Youths Seek Govt Intervention Over Activities Of Village Chairman, Threaten Sack

Youths of Enugwu village Nanka have appealed to Governor Chukwuma Soludo to call on the chairman of the village to champion the growth and development of the village or remove him entirely and institute a care taker committee for them to avoid break down of law and order in the community.

They made their intention known through their leader, Mr. Chiemelie Okafor, during a Press Briefing where they complain of high handedness of the Chairman and disrespect for constituted authority in the village.

He accused him of destroying and stopping work at Iyiofia, the spring water where Rock Tama spring water is sourced, dismissal of nurses deployed to the Health Center in the village by Anambra state government, which they said has resulted to their women delivering outside the Health center as well as his refusal to respond to call by the Orumba North Local Government Council, to clarify why he stopped work at Iyiofia which was meant to prevent erosion from affecting the stream.

While alleging further, that the said village chairman wrote Governor Soludo, asking him not to construct the Afor -Udo road which connects Awgbu -Amaokpala road which is the Governor’s choice for intervention, on the grounds that the road will increase insecurity, which he said was a desperate idea to frustrate the good plans of the Governor for the community.

He noted that if the Iyiofia stream is destroyed, over three hundred indigenes of the community working at Rock Tama Spring Water Company would be rendered jobless at a time when Governor Soludo is calling for Aku Luo Uno.
