Eld EL-Fitr: Hausa Community In Anambra Joins In Celebration, Calls For Peace

Thousands of Hausa faithful trooped out en masse early this morning to pray and celebrate the feast of Eid el-Fitr.

The celebration, which marks the end of the month of Ramadan fasting that lasts for 29 or 30 days, saw men, women, and children gorgeously dressed in their best attire, celebrating, exchanging gifts, and praying for the grace to witness the 2026 Ramadan feast.

Speaking at Amawbia Field, the prayer ground, the Sarki Hausa, Alhaji Haruna Garba, who is the leader of all Muslims in Anambra State, said they gathered to pray for peace as it is the only tool that can keep the country moving forward, calling on all their brothers and sisters to entrench peace, maintain cordial coexistence with their host community, and obey the rules and regulations of any area they find themselves.

Alhaji Garba appealed to all Muslims to always pray for the leaders, especially Governor Chukwuma Soludo, who has done marvelously well in all sectors, stating that by the special grace of God the governor will initiate more infrastructural projects that will benefit all, while advising him to put more effort into strengthening the security architecture, as they will contribute their quota in any way they can to ensure that wherever they find themselves is secure, adding that their relationship with the host community has continued to be cordial and peaceful.

On his part, the leader of the Fulani Community, Alhaji Gidado Sidiq, who is also the Chairman of the Arewa Community, noted that as they conclude the month of Ramadan fasting, it is always a great and joyous moment, as they pray for the nation and everyone around them that peace will continue to take its course in their lives, and cautioned all Muslim faithful not to engage in anything that will jeopardize the cordial coexistence they enjoy in their host communities.

Lending his voice, Alhaji Bashiru Mohammad expressed delight with the feast and extended greetings to Christian faithful and other religious bodies in the state, reminding them that all are one and should sue for peace and unity.
