The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has debunked a circulating forged letter claiming the postponement of the Ekiti State PDP Congress and governorship primary.
The fake document, dated 10th November, 2025 and carrying a forged signature of the Commission’s Secretary, has been circulating across social media.
INEC in a statement signed by the Director, Voter Education and Publicity, Mrs Victoria Eta-Messi, says it never issued such correspondence and urged the public, political actors, and the media to ignore it completely.
Describing the act as a serious electoral offence, the Commission warned that forging official documents is a criminal attempt to mislead the public and destabilise the political process, and cautioned that it is already working with security agencies to track down and prosecute those responsible.
