Anambra State Government has commended the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Okoye, for renovating the facilities at Community Secondary School Amawbia, formerly Amawbia Girls Secondary School.
Some of the facilities included the Examination Hall, Biology and Chemistry Laboratories.
The Chairman of Post Primary School Service Commission, Prof. Nkechi Ikediugwu, represented by Ngozi Ekwunife during the commissioning ceremony said the intervention is a significant contribution to improving the learning environment in the school.

Prof. Ikediugwu noted that the science block, originally constructed in 1981 had deteriorated over the years due to lack of maintenance before the recent renovation.
Commissioning the project, the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Okoye said the intervention is part of his commitment to strengthening the education sector and fulfilling development promises made to the people of Awka South constituency.

He emphasized that the future of every society depends largely on the quality of education provided to young people, and stressed the need for continuous investment in school infrastructure to promote academic excellence, practical learning and innovation among students.
The Principal of the school, Adaora Okafor, said the renovation has created a more suitable environment for science education in the school; allowing students to make effective use of laboratory equipment for practical experiments and innovation.

Community leaders, including the President General of Amawbia, Chukwuka Odumodu, and the traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Uche Okonkwo, appreciated the intervention, noting that the renovation has revived critical educational infrastructure that had been in poor condition for many years.
