As part of efforts to ensure safety and orderliness in the transport sector, the Anambra State Government has launched a digitized motorcycle waiver platform for delivery companies using motorcycles in the state.
Speaking during the launch at the State Ministry of Transport, Jerome Udoji Secretariat, Awka, which also featured a safety awareness and training session for all Ministry of Transport-approved courier and delivery companies, and distribution of free reflective jackets to riders, the Commissioner for Transport, Mrs Patricia Igwebuike, advised riders to key into the initiative designed to ensure their safety and protect them from harassment by traffic regulators across Anambra roads.

In a remark, the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Anambra State Command, Corps Commander Bridgette Asekhauno, urged dispatch riders and drivers to always obey traffic rules and regulations and consider other road users while plying the roads this Christmas season to avoid preventable crashes, and reminded them to use the FRSC toll-free emergency number 122 whenever necessary.
Some representatives of logistics companies at the event, including Mr Obinna Okafor, Pastor Frank Ikegwu, Dr. Chikeluo Nwagbo and Mr Emmanuel Ogham, while describing the digitized motorcycle waiver platform as a welcome development that will help minimize the harassment they encounter daily from law enforcement agents, commended Commissioner Igwebuike for always granting them audience when called upon, and appealed for a slight reduction in penalties for traffic offenses committed by dispatch riders, noting that there is little profit in the business.
