A community leader in Adazi Ani, Anaocha Local Government Area, Chief John Akubude has called on traditional Rulers in the South East to synergize with cultural proponents in the region towards making the New yam festival in Igbo land an international festival that will attract foreign tourists.
Speaking in an interview with the ABS in his country home Adazi Ani, Chief Akubude who regretted the gradual going into extinction of the rich Igbo cultural heritage, described the New yam festival as the most prestigious festivals in Igbo land which normally brings the people of various Communities together for the charting of New order in their various areas, called on the people to use the new yam festival in promoting peaceful coexistence in their various areas.
Chief Akubude used the opportunity to call on affluent people of the Igbo race, to seek ways of assisting indigent individuals in their various communities, in addition to building cottage industries where people can work and sustain themselves and commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the One Youth Two Skills initiative which has taken many youths out of the street.
