Commentary: Soludo ‘S Achievements In Amesi Community And Need For More Interventions

The President-General of Amesi Improvement Union Prince Oscar Ezechukwu, the traditional ruler of Amesi Kingdom,  Igwe Raphael Okpalaeke and the entire Amesi community in Aguata Local Government Area, applaud the interventions of Governor Chukwuma Soludo administration in  the community through  his Solution is here agenda.

The community particularly thank the Governor  for the construction of Uga-Amesi-Nkpologwu Road, Uga-Amesi-Akpo Road, and  Uga-Saint Vincent Catholic Church Road Amesi. 

Governor Soludo’s vision of securing Anambra State and indeed Amesi town by locating one of the grassroot community policing centers of Operation Udo-Ga and Achi Agunaechemba Security Outfits at Amesi is an act of visionary leadership, while  the Mayor of Aguata Local Government Area, Dr Chibueze Oforbuike  has  keyed into the Solution agenda and has provided  Solar  powered water borehole facility at the administrative headquarters of Amesi Improvement Union.

These intervention  have significantly improved the living standard of the people, expanded agricultural and economic activities.

 However, there are still other needs of the community that requires government interventions   as Governor Soludo works towards transforming Anambra State to a  liveable and prosperous homeland.

The community appeals to the Government to provide solar  powered water borehole facilities across the five villages of Amesi town  namely Obinator ,Onunaku,  Ubaha, Obinabo , Umuocha and Amorgho Villages to give the people of the area easy access to regular water supply. 

Again, there is no functional hospital or health center at Amesi town and the people have been facing distance challenges in accessing healthcare facilities in other towns. 

The community equally need rehabilitation of  Christ Redeemer College, Amesi and equipping of its Physics , Chemistry and Biology Laboratories, deployment of more qualified  teachers in the school and handover of the management of the school to  the Catholic Church. 

The community is also requesting the government to  build more  business facilities at Afor  Market, Amesi to scale up volume of commercial activities in the market, so that the vision of Ndi Amesi in building Amesi Urtra Modern Market can be fully realised. 

These interventions will encourage the good grassroot governance of the President-General of Amesi Improvement Union Prince  Oscar Ezechukwu, who emerged as the fourteenth President -General of Amesi community in July 2022 and has recorded many laudable achievements including restoring and sustaining peace, stability and development in the community  and hosted the first Annual General Meeting  of Amesi in November 2022 as well as fenced and equipped the headquarters of Amesi Improvement Union and transformed the Amesi community playground  for social, cultural, traditional and entertainment activities. 

The Ezechukwu administration has produced the Amesi Handbook that showcases its history, culture, tradition, and profile of great sons and daughters of the community and installed Solar  Street Light which  helped to improve security in the town, organized  Great Amesi Akalabor Mass Return Festival on December twenty-nine, 2024 as well as  reconstructed and transformed the  Amesi Afor Market into Amesi Urtra Modern facility and immortalized achievements of past thirteen Presidents-General of Amesi Improvement Union and the traditional rulers of Amesi Kingdom. 

Prince   Ezechukwu,  has served as the Chairman of Onunaku Kindred Union, Chairman of Amorgho Village Union, and Chairman of Amesi Improvement Union, Port Harcourt, Rivers State Branch before he emerged as the President-General of Amesi Improvement Union.

More interventions of the state government in the development of  Amesi community will add in achieving the collective vision of making Anambra State a liveable and prosperous homeland.
