Commentary: How Soludo Is Transforming Anambra Politics

As the November eight, 2025, governorship elections approach, a remarkable shift in the political landscape is unfolding.

Today  the power of community endorsement and citizen financial support are taking center stage. It is unprecedented in the history of politics in Nigeria; where communities are willingly donating funds in support of a Governorship candidate.

Driven by the inspiration to support the re-election bid of Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo and his Deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, it is not just a campaign for re-election; it is a movement fuelled by conviction. Citizens are waking up to the reality that their voices can bridge the gap between governance and accountability. They are choosing to invest in leadership they trust, driven by the belief that good governance deserves continuity.

The numbers tell a compelling story. Communities across Anambra state are pooling resources in unprecedented ways.  Endorsements are not just symbolic; they hold tangible financial backing as citizens converge in town squares, sharing their stories and their hopes for the future. This is citizen giving at its best and a model that signals a new dawn for Nigeria’s democracy.

Unlike typical campaign financing dominated by elite interests, Anambra’s model fosters a participatory environment where every voice matters. This feels like a democratic revival and it is rooted in a shared vision for the state’s future.

Tens of other communities are lined up to endorse and donate to the Governor’s campaign.

Globally, we have seen how campaigns can be reframed. For example, in the United States, Barack Obama inspired millions to contribute small amounts to fuel his campaign through grassroots movements. In Anambra, this legacy is being echoed under Governor Soludo as  local communities are  stepping up to support a governance that reflects their needs and aspirations. The reason is simple.  The manifesto of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA is people centred and emphasizes “leave no one behind“. Again, Governor Soludo’s policies promote, “one state, one people, one agenda“.

When citizens voluntarily contribute to good leadership, they transform from passive spectators into stakeholders in governance.

As communities unite, their voices resonate with a powerful message that good work deserves continuity. For the sake of emphasis, across the state, over forty-two communities are still lining up to endorse Governor Soludo, a visible testament to the unwavering trust placed in his leadership.

What is unfolding in Anambra is more than an election strategy; it is a beacon of democratic innovation. By choosing to invest in good governance rather than surrendering to transactional politics, the people are charting a course toward a brighter, inclusive future.

In Anambra, citizens are proving that when they unite to support the leadership they trust, in this case, Governor Chukwuma  Soludo, they can create the change they wish to see. This is just the beginning; the story of a community reclaiming its future is still being written.
