In a world where skills are the true currency of empowerment, Aguata is about to witness yet another transformative stride.
The Office of the member representing Aguata Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Honourable Dom Okafor in partnership with the Federal Co-operative College, Oji-River, is organizing a *five-day Vocational Training and Empowerment Program* at Orthon Palace Hotels, Ekwulobia. The capacity building programme which commenced yesterday, will end on Friday this week, February 6th.
This is not just a training exercise only; it is a gateway to self-reliance, creativity, and prosperity for youths of the council area. It is a reflection of intentional leadership and a deep commitment to the economic upliftment of the people.
The program will focus on paint manufacturing and pastry which are two practical and profitable skills that can transform lives and communities.
Participants have been carefully selected from across the fourteen towns of Aguata, ensuring that every corner of the constituency is represented. But Honourable Okafor’s vision goes beyond training, as each participant will be empowered after the program to begin their journey, well equipped not just with knowledge but with the means to apply it to achieved the desired objective.
This is not the first time Honourable Okafor has shown such foresight. Since his inauguration into the 10th National Assembly in June 2023, he has consistently demonstrated that leadership is about service and results. He has moved motions of urgent national importance, including tackling the devastating gully erosion in Aguata, advocating a credible national census, demanding accountability in aviation safety and financial institutions. His legislative milestones are not abstract, they are rooted in the real needs of the people.
Beyond the chambers of the National Assembly, his interventions have touched lives directly. In education, he has built classroom blocks in Igbo-Ukwu, Uga, Aguluezechukwu, Umuona, and Umuchu, ensuring that children learn in conducive environments. He has sponsored sports competitions like the Aguata Harmony Football Tournament and badminton training for schools, thereby nurturing both academic and athletic excellence.
In energy and power, Honourable Okafor has brought light to communities by installing solar street lights across Aguata, providing transformers, and delivering inverter systems to schools and villages. In healthcare, he has conducted free medical outreaches, offering eye surgeries and distributing eyeglasses to hundreds of beneficiaries. In roads and water, he has rehabilitated township roads in Ekwulobia, constructed the Amaehulu Town Hall Road in Igbo-Ukwu, and initiated borehole projects to provide clean water.
His agricultural interventions have empowered farmers with yam seedlings, fertilizers, and implements, while his human capital development programs have given laptops to youths, vocational training and seed capital to women, and even facilitated recruitment into the police, NSCDC, and FCDA.
The upcoming vocational training is therefore a continuation of a tested and trusted pattern of empowerment. It reflects the Edo Legislative Agenda he has championed, which emphasizes youth empowerment, agricultural revitalization, healthcare access, education, sports development, and regular constituency engagement. It is a vision that seeks to unlock Aguata’s vast potential and place the constituency on a higher pedestal of progress.
Honourable Okafor continues to demonstrate steadfast dedication to the welfare of Ndị Aguata. His leadership is grounded in service, driven by results, and focused on people.
As he seeks to continue his legislative journey, this initiative stands as a powerful reminder of what true representation looks like. It is leadership that empowers, that listens, and that delivers.
So let us support this noble cause. Let us celebrate a leader who is not just speaking for us-but working for us. Aguata is rising. Let us rise together.
