Commentary: Harvest Time In Anambra: Why Soludo, Ibezim Deserve Another Term

As the saying goes, “To everything there is a season.” There is a time to plant and a time to harvest. In Anambra State today, it is the season of democratic harvest. A time when Ndi Anambra will once again decide the future of the state. It is the moment to choose how Ndi Anambra want the state to look, the towns to grow, and  kind of leadership we desire to shape our tomorrow.

This election is not just about politics. It is about progress, vision and continuity. The power to decide whether Anambra continues on the path of development or takes a backward turn lies squarely in the hands of the people.

Since its rise in 2006, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has stood as the political identity and pride of Ndi Anambra. The cock, its enduring symbol ,  represents vigilance, resilience, and the spirit of Ndi Igbo. Handed down by the late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, APGA was envisioned as the platform that would safeguard the collective interest of the Igbo nation and give the Southeast a true voice in Nigeria’s political space.

APGA has remained the backbone of Anambra’s political stability and developmental excellence. This legacy of good governance has made the party’s slogan, “Nke a bu nke anyi” (“This is our own”), a living reality.

Since assuming office in 2022, Governor Chukwuma Soludo and Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim have redefined governance with their visionary “Soludo Solution” agenda which is  a holistic plan built on five pillars of  Security, Law, and Order,  Economic Transformation and Job Creation,  Social Agenda for Youths, Women, and the Vulnerable, Governance, Rule of Law and Justice,  Environment, Clean and Green Initiative.

Soludo’s bold campaign against criminality has restored safety in communities once plagued by insecurity, especially in Ihiala, Ogbaru and parts of Nnewi South.

In Infrastructure and Urban Renewal, Over one thousand kilometres of roads are currently under construction or completed across the twenty-one LGAs which have transformed cities with modern drainages, street lighting, and smart road networks.

Similarly,  the government has recruited thousands of teachers and healthcare workers, upgraded schools, and revitalised hospitals. Soludo’s administration also introduced the One Youth, Two Skills initiative, empowering thousands of young people with training and startup grants.

Again, through industrial clusters and MSME support programs, Soludo is driving local production and job creation, ensuring Anambra’s economy grows from within, while the “Clean, Green, and Liveable Anambra” initiative is tackling flooding, promoting tree planting, and ensuring waste management reforms that are already yielding results.

Soludo’s governance has brought transparency, fiscal discipline, and people-oriented policies that directly touch lives.

Anambra stands today at a crucial junction. The progress witnessed in just over three years is a foundation and not a finish line. Governor Soludo’s vision of a prosperous, livable, and smart Anambra megacity is unfolding. But such a transformation cannot be completed in a single term.

To abandon the “Solution Government” halfway is to interrupt a renaissance in motion. The next four years represent the harvest time  when the seeds of reform sown today will blossom into lasting prosperity.

The people of Anambra have tasted the difference. APGA remains the people’s party and homegrown platform that reflects the values of peace, progress, and inclusivity.

As election day approaches, Ndi Anambra must rise again to defend this legacy and vote for competence, integrity, and continuity.

Let’s return Professor  Chukwuma Soludo and Dr OnyekaChukwu Ibezim for a second term to complete the transformation they have begun.
