Anambra State is a state of rich history, giant strides, with creative, hardworking and innovative people.
The state is blessed with natural features like hills, lakes, rivers, caves, forests, table Savannah land which form beautiful landscapes, as well as rich mineral resources.
However ,the state is yet to attain its full potential in industrial development which will accelerate development of all sectors of the economy, create employment opportunities and expand revenue windows.
The state should now heave a sigh of relief with the emergence of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, who has vowed to change the narratives and turn Anambra State into the Dubai-Taiwan of Africa. With the massive construction of roads in all parts of the state and his policy on industrialization, Anambra State is quickly travelling on the path of industrialization.
The State’s kaolin, natural gas and crude oil deposits if well harnessed can provide ready minerals to jump start the industrialization process. The state’s agricultural potential, for which Governor Soludo had tapped into early in his administration, will not only boost the state’s economy but will also provide the bedrock for raw materials for industries including the palm oil processing industry.
There are high hopes that the governor will expand the legendary blacksmithing of the Awka people into an industrial hub, for the manufacture of modern farming implements and other house-hold utensils.
There is no doubt, that the state’s highly favourable economic climate, large markets, abundant skilled labour force and entrepreneurial capacity are great assets to Soludo’s industrial programme.
The Governor is fostering an educated and skilled youth population in ICT skill acquisition and entrepreneurial funding, thereby empowering young people to become proficient in the digital world. He had also transformed urban slums into hubs of economic activity and human habitation to attract more investors and entrepreneurs.
His belief to enthrone a liveable Anambra as a model of socio-economic development in Nigeria, has made possible the construction of many network of roads and flyovers that have given the state a befitting face lift.
All these have facilitated trade and commerce, investment potential, tourism and remarkable improvement in the standard of living of the people.
Governor Soludo’s industrial policy is engendering production-based and technological driven economy, thus moving away from a consumption-based model.
There are also plans for the Anambra State Railway Master Plan, which will revolutionize the state’s transportation infrastructure and integrate it to national rail corridors. Governor Soludo also started his agenda of establishing smart cities in parts of the state. These are part of efforts to industrialize the state and drive investment traffic to Anambra State.
The Governor has also completed designs for the take-off of the construction of three brand new eco-friendly cities in the state. The vision is to create new axis of prosperity and economic growth.
These are big projects and when fully developed will, no doubt, attract local and foreign investments.
With all these on the ground Governor Chukwuma Soludo is working towards building new industrial cities to enhance economic transformation and infrastructural renewal.
