Commentary: Aguata Diocesan Women’s Ministry. Taking Evangelism To The Next Level

Tomorrow Thursday June twenty-sixth, the Lampada Christi Women of Aguata Diocese will converge on Saint Luke’s Parish Isulo in Orumba South local government area for a three day twentieth Aguata Diocesan Women’s Conference being  hosted by Isulo Anglican community.

Already the community is in a high spirit to receive the president of the conference Mrs Chinyere  Ezeofor,   members of her executive and Women representatives as well as Diocesan officials as they arrive the community for the conference which has its theme as “God’s Great Tasks for the Church Two, The Great Commission.”   carefully chosen by the Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese Right Reverend Samuel Ezeofor who  is the Patron of the Women’s Ministry

According to the Secretary of Aguata Diocesan Women’s Ministry Mrs Unoma Ekwueme and Chairman of the Conference Planning Committee,  Lady Ngozi Ike,  delegates and Bishops Wife’s nominees will arrive the conference venue on Thursday for registration, followed by opening service by two pm, while on  Friday twenty-seventh June, the Conference President Mrs Chinyere Ezeofor  will present her address by eleven am,  followed by its launching.

The twentieth edition of the Aguata Diocesan Women’s Magazine and unveiling of the 2026 calendar will be  on Saturday twenty-eighth June by two pm while the conference which has Lady Fidelia Ejeckam as the profile Mother will end  on Sunday twenty-ninth June with a special thanksgiving service by ten am to be officiated by the Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese Right Reverend Ezeofor followed by the cutting of the conference cake and funds realized from the conference will be channeled to the completion of ongoing projects and commencing new projects.

Since the inauguration of Aguata Diocese on September four 2005, the Women of Aguata Diocese have continued to live up to the vision and mission of the Diocese.

The Women’s Ministry has introduced prayer conference in Diocesan, Archdeaconry and Parish levels.  There is also a special fellowship outline for Young wives.

The Women’s Ministry  introduced seminars, workshops and roll out packages for widows, in addition to annual issuance of interest free loan to hundreds of indigent Women as well as  awarding scholarships  to pupils and students from basic to  tertiary institutions.

Aguata Diocesan Women’s Ministry has established Lampada table water factory at Aguluezechukwu, Garri Processing factory at Okpeze, Diocesan Hospital at Igboukwu, Lampada Community Children’s Home also in Igboukwu and cassava farmland at Ufuma while the Ministry is building an Annex health center at Ikenga.

The Women Ministry’s Two storey building project at the Diocesan church center  Ndikelionwu is over eighty percent completed and it is expected to be dedicated as part of activities lined up to mark the twentieth Anniversary of Aguata Diocese in September this year. The Women Ministry is also contributing immensely to the growth of schools owned by Aguata Diocese.  

Anglican church came to Isulo in 1916, during which some natives in the community were converted.

The foundation stone of Saint Luke’s Parish Isulo was laid on May nineteen 1979 by the then Bishop on the Niger Right Reverend Jonathan Onyemelukwe of the blessed memory, who later became the Archbishop of the defunct Province Two.

The increase in the number of the congregation of Saint Luke’s Isulo, gave birth to Our Saviours Church Isulo which foundation stone was laid on twenty-fourth June 2012 by the then Bishop of Aguata Diocese and Archbishop of Niger Province Most Reverend Christian Efobi who also dedicated the church and it’s Vicarage on twenty-third December 2012.

Isulo community has produced prominent individuals, including the Anglican Bishop of Niger East Diocese Right Reverend Obiora Uzochukwu. So as Isulo Anglican community  hosts, the  twentieth Aguata Diocesan Women’s Conference, the Vicar of Saint Luke’s Parish Isulo and wife, Reverend Canon Chima and Mrs.  Blessing Ezeudoye and Reverend Canon Izuchukwu and Mrs Ebele Ezeobi Vicar Our Saviours Parish Isulo and Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee Sir, Emeka Igwe and Vice Chairman Sir John Nwosu welcome the women and other invitees.
