College Of Nursing Sciences Adazi-Nnukwu Matriculates First Bachelor Of Nursing Science Students

The College of Nursing Sciences, Adazi-Nnukwu, in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, has matriculated one hundred and twenty newly admitted students, being the first set to obtain a Bachelor of Nursing Science (BNSc) from the college upon graduation, following the institution’s affiliation with Nnamdi Azikiwe University.

The 2026 matriculation ceremony commenced with a Eucharistic Mass conducted by the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor, who charged the students to remain committed to their studies and avoid every form of distraction in order to succeed academically and graduate in due time with good grades, assuring them that the Church under his watch is committed to ensuring that qualified lecturers and a conducive learning environment are provided to produce globally acceptable graduates from the school.

In an address, the Acting Provost of the College of Nursing Sciences, Adazi-Nnukwu, Mrs. Mary-Michael Ezenwuba, while welcoming the matriculants, urged them to abide by the rules and regulations guiding the school and avoid any form of examination malpractice, noting that the institution has zero tolerance for misconduct, and assured them that the school will play its part in ensuring they succeed and make their parents and society proud at the end of their academic journey.

Also speaking, the Director of Nursing Services, Anambra State, Mrs. Christiana Dike, and the Head of the Nursing Department, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Dr. Chika Odira, who delivered the matriculation lecture on the topic, “Discipline, Integrity, and Academic Excellence in Nursing Education,” tasked the students on integrity, innovation, and discipline, and encouraged them to master the demands of nursing and the ethics of the profession before graduation.

The Chancellor, Catholic Diocese of Awka, Reverend Father Charles Ndubuisi, and the College Administrator, Reverend Father Jude Igboka, expressed happiness over the various achievements already recorded by the institution, reminding the students of the need to make integrity and commitment their watchwords, and explaining that the school has all it takes to ensure their academic and moral success.

The Chairman of the occasion and Mayor of Anaocha Local Government Area, Barrister Dominic Ononiba, alongside some dignitaries at the event, including Chief Atusi Mmadueke and Mr. Chuka Ezeokafor, called for improved support for education in this part of the world from both the government and well-to-do individuals in order to raise a generation that will transform the world through education.

Major completed projects in the institution include the newly erected Bishop Paulinus C. Ezeokafor Hostel, a borehole facility, the renovated Bishop Simon A. Okafor Hostel, and a supermarket.
