The Chairman of the 2025 Egwu Imoka Festival, Chief Anayo Obiakor, has assured that this year’s festival will be violence-free.
Speaking at Ndi Ichie Hall at Umudioka village Awka before their movement to Umuokpu, Chief Obiakor warned that non indigenes and those caught causing trouble will face the full weight of the law.
He described the visit to Umuokpu as a time to remind them about the annual festival; since Umuokpu is part of Awka but resides far from the community.

Another member of the Planning Committee, Chief Nweke Enukora, described Egwu Imoka as the highest Awka cultural festival which marks the beginning of New Year in the ccommunity, and maintained that Egwu Imoka is a festival for cultivating friendships, and cautioned non actors against causing trouble during and after the festival.
