Having already built houses for several constituents, the member representing Awka North Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Honourable Chimezie Ikwunne, has further expanded his support for the people with an empowerment programme valued at over N150 million.

The empowerment programme saw the distribution of fifteen shuttle buses, thirty-four sewing machines, forty motorcycles, thirty grinding machines, thirty hair dryers, and cash to selected beneficiaries drawn from different communities in the constituency.

Speaking during the event, Honourable Ikwunne said the initiative was part of his commitment to improving the welfare of his constituents and helping them become economically independent.

The lawmaker, who has previously built houses for some indigent members of the constituency, noted that empowering people economically remains one of the most effective ways of reducing poverty and unemployment at the grassroots, urging the beneficiaries to make good use of the items to improve their standard of living and contribute positively to the development of their communities.

The State Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Barrister Ifeatu Obi-Okoye, and the Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Chukwuma Okoye, said APGA is very proud of him and that he has demonstrated quality representation, hence deserving another tenure.

Some of the beneficiaries, including Mr. Ifesinachi Onwunili and Mrs. Theresa Okonkwo, expressed gratitude for the gesture, describing the empowerment as timely and impactful, and noted that the support would help them sustain their families and grow their businesses.

Some community leaders and stakeholders who attended the programme commended the lawmaker for remembering his constituents and investing in initiatives that directly improve the lives of the people.
