The Umunze Progressive Union Women’s Wing has held its 2025 Annual Home and Abroad Rally and August meeting in grand style.
The event aimed at celebrating progress, strengthening unity, and charting a way forward for the community’s development took place at Mbara Izo Square, and attracted women from both home and abroad, community leaders, notable speakers, and other distinguished individuals who gathered to mark the occasion were they also decorated and gave awards to deserving members.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of Orumba South Local Government Area, Honourable Shadrach Azbuike and his Deputy, Mrs Ngozi Obidike commended the women for their relentless efforts in fostering peace and oneness within the community and declared zero tolerance for any violation of women’s rights in the local government.

On his part, the President-General of the community, Sir Ezekiel Iheazor described the day as a double celebration for him, as it also marked the first anniversary of the community’s new hall, while the Umunze Women Leader, Mrs Amaka Iroegbu, explained that the rally provided a platform for women to discuss pressing issues, brainstorm on their challenges, and map out plans for development projects that would uplift the community, even as she called on Anambra State Government to create employment opportunities for the youths, promote the community’s agricultural practices, and ensure the provision of stable electricity in the area.
