Anambra State Govt To Commence Full Enforcement Of Environmental Laws From Monday Next Week

Anambra State Commissioner for Environment, Dr Felix Odimegwu says the state government will begin the full enforcement of Anambra State Environmental Management Protection and Administration Law from Monday next week.

Speaking with journalists in Awka, Dr Odimegwu explained that the goal of the law is to safeguard public health, strengthen climate resilience, prevent flooding and erosion, ensure orderly sustainable environmental management across all communities in Anambra State.

The Commissioner called on landlords, developers, market leaders, business owners, community associations, estate managers, institutions and construction firms to ensure compliance with all provisions of the environmental management law.        

He maintained that the law mandates Anambra residents to keep their environment clean, desist from acts capable of causing damage to the environment as well as have waste bins that meets the specifications of Anambra State Waste Management Authority in their business premises and homes.
