Bountiful harvest of the twenty-one local government areas and their special masquerades were on display at the just concluded 2024 new yam festival of Anambra State held at Dr Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka.
Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim reports that the event featured a display of cultural procession from representatives of the local government areas.
Speaking to the ABS, the leader, Orumba South Congress of Councilors Mr. Francis Onyedika extolled the celebration and disclosed that the big yams displayed by the local government area were cultivated and harvested by the former Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Chief Emeka Sibeudu.
On his part, a staff of the Ministry of Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, Chief Obiajulu Edochie spoke on the significance of crocodile masquerade and others displayed at the ceremony by the Ministry.
While commending Governor Chukwuma Soludo for being Agriculture friendly, the Mayor of Ihiala Local government area, Engineer Anayochukwu Orjiakor noted that the high breed crops he distributed across various local government areas resulted in the bumper harvest.
