Reporters in Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, have been retrained on how to cover elections and stay safe.
Addressing the journalists during an In-house training of the News Department held at the Radio wing of the ABS Newsroom, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the ABS, Mr Christopher Molokwu who also doubled as the lead resource person at the training, centred on the topic “Covering election in digital era”, advised them to always prepare emotionally, physically, and mentally before going for election coverage and to complement cameras with smart phones to further enhance quick delivery of visual reports.


In her presentation on the topic” Maintaining Integrity In Journalism”, the Director News and Current Affairs Department, Mrs Judy-Jeff Nwabueze, advised journalists to desist from making gratification their priority when they are discharging their duties, which she said sometimes influences their reportage, describing the act as unethical, unprofessional and embarrassing to the station, calling on them to always dress well, be at their beats on time and discharge their duties professionally.

On his part, the Head of Reportorial and Commentary Units of ABS News Department, Mr Paul Ezeoke, noted that journalists are celebrities and ambassadors of the oraginzation and should comport themselves as such by avoiding acts that could tarnish their image, while charging ABS reporters to work professionally, represent the station as image makers of the establishment anywhere they find themselves.
