A solemn yet an emotional atmosphere it was, during the burial and funeral ceremony for late Mr. Emmanuel Nwadiukwu Igwe, popularly known as “Asimonyemena” whom many, who came to mourn and condole with the family, described as peaceful and nice man during his lifetime.

Late Mr. Igwe, an Awka based butcher and meat seller, whose colleagues gathered at Kwata abattoir to pay their last respect, were full of testimonies on the good life of the deceased, who died at the age seventy-one.
During a requiem mass at his country home, Ohafia Agba, Ishiagu Isielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Reverend Father Hygenus Chime reminded those present of the vanity of life on earth, warning all to live right, have hope and faith in the resurrection with Christ on the appointed time while also urging the family to be consoled in Christ.


Speaking after the interment of the deceased, the first son, Chukwunonso Igwe, remarked that the father was a peace loving man, whom he shared a lot of cherished moments with, especially being opposing football club supporters, noting he would be missed.
One of the daughters and staff of Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, Mrs. Joy Igwe, emphasized that beyond words, the father was a responsible, understanding and peaceful man to the family and those around him, ading that the father’s legacies will live on.

The Chairman of Obinwanne Butchers Association, Chief Charles Okafor, explained that the deceased sojourned in Awka since 1971, was a good man to all who knew him and a respected butcher amongst them, advising all to live an impactful life rooted in God.
Others who spoke, including Messers Ignatius Nwankwo and Chukwuka Igboagu said that beyond ‘praise singing’, Late Mr. Igwe was a good man who would be missed.
