Local Govt. Tour: Mrs Obiano Visits Orumba North And South Council Areas

The  achievements of the Caring Family Enhancement Initiative, CAFE; an NGO of Wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Dr Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano, has been described as unique  humanitarian inspiration initiated by any governor’s wife in Nigeria. 

This was the testimony of speakers at the second day of Dr Mrs. Obiano’s 2019 Local Government Tour at Orumba North and South Councils’ Headquarters. 

The annual Local Government Tour of the Governor’s wife, which has been on for six straight years, has become a good avenue to reach women drawn from different communities that make up a particular council area.

At each  local government council visited , the governor’s wife tries to educate and motivate the women and youths to take their destinies in their hands and imbibe hard work as a means of financial independence and poverty alleviation.

 

Dr Mrs. Obiano reminded the women of their place in every society, and challenged them to master the lesson of diligence, and build a future around self-sufficiency.

She said the free skills acquisition programmes of CAFE were still on and urged the women and youths to enroll into any of the programmes to become trained and contribute towards achieving  the current administration’s policy on poverty alleviation.

The Governor’s wife noted that the real essence of leadership was to touch the lives of the people and set a lasting legacy for tomorrow’s generation. 

Speaking at Orumba South Council Area, the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Architect Mike Okonkwo, who pledged to adopt fifteen motherless children into the Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme, ASHIA, said he was inspired by what Dr Mrs. Obiano has achieved with CAFE.                        

In their separate remarks, the Transition Committee Chairman of Orumba South, Mr. Raymond Onyegu, his Orumba North counterpart, Mr. Obinna Ikwueto, and the immediate-past Transition Committee Chairman of Orumba North, Mrs. Ify Obinabo, said the Governor’s wife has continued to exemplify character of charity  as a gift not driven by partisan politics.           

The Member Representing Orumba South Constituency at the Anambra State House of Assembly, Chief Emma Nwafor, and his Orumba North counterpart, Honourable Emeka Aforka, praised Dr Mrs. Obiano’s view of life which places everyone on equal importance. 

Widows, the aged, indigent and children also got bags of rice, cash and educational materials from the Governor’s wife.
