The Anambra State House of Assembly resumed sitting yesterday in Awka after break.

Welcoming the Lawmakers back from break, Speaker of the House, Mr Uchenna Okafor, charged them to redouble their efforts in giving the people the best of parliamentary service.
The Speaker applauded them for using the period to interact with their constituents with a view to identifying the areas of common developmental interest, adding that the Seventh Assembly, accords priority to constituency briefing through town hall meetings which are veritable platforms for comprehensive community development.
Also at plenary, the Speaker announced the Chairmen and Deputy chairmen of standing committees of the House.
He charged chairmen of the committees to inaugurate their members and embark on familiarization visit to government organs in the State.
In an interview, the new Chairman, House Committee on Information and Culture, Mr Okechukwu Okoye, promised to use his office to sustain the symbiotic relationship that exist between the Executive and Legislative arms of government for the overall development of the state.
He also assured that he would work with stakeholders, especially the media to project the activities of the House.
On his part, the Chairman, House Committee on Public utilities, Mr Chidi Udemmadu, commended leadership of the House for finding him worthy to occupy the office, assuring that he will discharge his duties creditably
