Young Pharmacists Group Seeks Collective Action Against Drug Abuse

The Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Young Pharmacists Group, has called for collective efforts in the fight against drug abuse in the society. 
The group made the call when they paid a familiarization visit to the state Governor, Chief Willie Obiano at the Government House, Awka. 
Correspondent, Emmanuel Okonkwo was there and  reports  that the National President of the group, Pharmacist Olagunji Muyiwa who described drug abuse as mother of all crimes, said that the Young Pharmaceutical Group which is a section of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria which was founded two years ago, is charged with the responsibilities of organizing free medical outreach, combating drug abuse through education of the masses on the dangers inherent in the practice, among others. 


Pharmacist Muyiwa while commending the state government on the supports giving to the main body of the association, appealed that such gesture should be extended to the young section.
Also speaking, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Pharmaceutical Matters, Pharmacist Chibuzor Okah called on youths to desist from drug abuse as according to him the act is destructive and could derail  their future and destiny in life.  


Responding, Governor Obiano represented by his Deputy, Dr.  Nkem Okeke commended the group  for  their contributions to nation building and reshaping of mindset of the youths.
Governor Obiano who described pharmacists as indispensable in health circle and the society at large, assured the group of the state government’s support, and wished them well in their forthcoming conference holding in the state soon.
