RATTAWU President, Kalu Pays ‘Thank You’ Visit To ABS Onitsha, Reels Out Agenda For Union

The National President of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU), Prince Emeka Kalu, says his administration is embarking on critical engagement and strategic partnerships with relevant agencies to reposition the union for the better.

Prince Kalu, who stated this during his homecoming and first official visit to the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), Onitsha Station, noted that ABS Onitsha, where he started his broadcasting journey, was the headquarters of the Anambra Broadcasting Service when the state was carved out of the old Anambra State, pointed out that ABS is the number one station in the country by virtue of producing the number one citizen of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers Union, stressed that one of his 12-point agenda is to give the union greater visibility, which he is diligently pursuing, added that his leadership is working on infrastructural development, welfare packages for members, training, prompt salary payment, among others, and charged ABS Onitsha staff to remain committed to their duties.

The South-East Woman Leader of RATTAWU, Comrade Ify Eze, recalled their experiences and challenges during the RATTAWU election in Gombe State, thanked God for the victory that saw the emergence of Prince Emeka Kalu, spoke on the need for people to support leaders with vision and good intentions, while the Anambra State Chairman of RATTAWU, Comrade Maureen-Stone Enujioke, said ABS Onitsha was the first place the RATTAWU President visited to identify with and thank ABS staff who supported him, and added that the state chapter of RATTAWU will soon unveil several beneficial packages for members.

Responding, the Head of Station, ABS Onitsha, Comrade Ifeoma Udechukwu, thanked Prince Kalu for the visit and prayed for God’s protection and wisdom for him to pilot the affairs of the union successfully.

In the entourage of the RATTAWU National President were an Administrative Officer, Chibuike Ede; a Nollywood actress, Ozoemena Justina; ABS veterans and past Anambra State leaders of RATTAWU, including Tony Edochie, Andy Onwualu, Chizoba Ofodile, and Amaka Mbanugo, among others, while solidarity songs spiced the event.
