Over Five Hundred Persons Benefit From Annie Okonkwo Foundation, Honourable Uchenna Okonkwo’s Free Medical Outreach

Over five hundred people have benefited from the 2026 free cardiovascular screening and community health outreach organised for the people of Idemili South Local Government Area by the Annie Okonkwo Foundation in collaboration with the Member representing Idemili North and South Federal Constituency, Honourable Uchenna Harris Okonkwo.

The free medical outreach, with the theme “Healthy Hearts, Healthy People,” featured free cardiovascular screening, cancer risk assessment, eye examination and issuance of free glasses, medical counselling, medication support for known cases, distribution of mosquito nets and insecticides, among others.

Addressing the gathering during the event held at St Paul’s Catholic Church, Ojoto, the Member representing Idemili North and South Federal Constituency, Honourable Okonkwo, who emphasised the need for people to take their health seriously, said the intervention was one of the ways he impacts the lives of his constituents in collaboration with his late father’s foundation, noting that the well-being of his people is paramount to him and that he would continue to take actions that will benefit them.

In a presentation on cancer awareness, one of the nurses at the event, Nurse Ifunanya Agha, who described cancer as a deadly disease that has killed many people, enlightened the participants on the types and symptoms of cancer and advised them to seek medical attention promptly when they notice signs of the disease in their bodies to avoid complications.

Some of the beneficiaries, including Mr Ogbonna Agukwolonwaya, Mrs Favour Uzokwe, and Mr Patrick Igboamalu, thanked the Annie Okonkwo Foundation and Honourable Uchenna Okonkwo for the intervention, which they said has saved them from medical issues they had been battling with for a long time due to lack of money for medical care and treatment, and prayed God to bless them abundantly.
