Anambra Transport Ministry, Rotary International Organize Road Safety Workshop In Awka

The Anambra State Ministry of Transport and Rotary District 9142 has organised a one day road safety workshop for commercial drivers, motorcycle and tricycle operators, including other road stakeholders on measures aimed at drastically reducing road accidents and crashes, ensuring safety for all road users through awareness and  knowing important road  laws.

Speaking at the event, held at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat, Awka, the State Commissioner forTransport Barrister Patricia Igwebuike, explained that the workshop will promote road safety, being a capacity building initiative and partnership to achieve results, as lectures were tailored to properly inform and educate participants on necessary safety measures, commending Rotary for the partnership. 

Also speaking The Rotary Governor District 9142, Sir Kelechi Anyawu represented by Mr  Valentine Okaodu, explained that constant learning and updating one’s knowledge on road safety laws and measures helps to ensure less crashes and accidents on the roads and stated that it was part of contributions of Rotary International  to societal wellbeing through road safety.

In  their separate  lectures, a road safely advocate, Mr. Fidelis Nnadi and Engineer Macdonald Achuam of Vehicle Inspection Service, Ministry of Transport noted that licensing and certification of drivers, road worthiness of vehicles are important for road safety, revealing that a streamlined process involving all stakeholders will bring about transparency and accountability,  while Mr. Christopher Okeke of the Ministry of Transport and Prince Collins Ozojiofor, a tricycle leader in the state said that the workshop is an eye opener and will definitely bring a change.
