Members of Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria, Anambra State chapter have expressed appreciation to Governor Chukwuma Soludo for what they called transformation of the Chukwumeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital Amaku Awka to a modern hospital that can compete favourably with other tertiary health institutions in Nigeria.
They made this known when they paid a visit to Governor Soludo at Light House Awka where they were received by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu.

Speaking after a closed door meeting with Professor Chukwulobelu, the chairman of Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria Anambra State chapter, Dr Amaechi Nwachukwu said that the reason for the visit was to thank Governor Soludo for all he did to change the aesthetic look of the Amaku General Hospital which he listed to include construction of feeder roads, construction of a world class Trauma centre, welfare of staff members and many others.

Dr Nwachukwu appealed to the Governor to look into boosting the welfare of the senior consultants who have trained and are still training many doctors in the hospital, saying that most of them have worked for over thirty years and required special care, and reiterated the need for recruitment of more consultants as there are vacancies for special consultants in case of emergencies.
